ABOUT

The Full Story

Andrea Mayo is a Canadian VFX and Animation Production Management professional currently based out of the beautiful Okanagan in British Columbia. 

 

Career highlights include her start in 2010 as a CG Layout Artist on Planet Sheen, at Bardel Entertainment, and then working up to a Production Manager role in 2015 on Mack and Moxy. On a side project, Andrea reached her goal of combining an interest in Healthcare with Animation and won 2nd place with her team's entry Lactase and Me at the 2012 Gene Screen BC Video Competition. In 2017 she ventured to New Zealand to work as a Motion Edit Production Coordinator on the feature film Alita : Battle Angel at the Academy award winning VFX studio, Weta Digital. On her return to Canada, Andrea had the chance to work on some incredible projects including Molly of Denali and Oddballs at Atomic Cartoons. 

 

Her experiences, including those in Animation and VFX, have allowed her to collaborate with teams of various sizes and on projects ranging in complexity, medium, and subject matter. She is passionate about improving communication and organizational strategies to assist teams in the management and delivery of digital media projects.

2012 - 2013

Project based learning with multidisciplinary team members. Paired with industry partners East Side Games and Hot Head Games to develop Game Design prototypes and track user analytics for Mobile Business R&D. Project Management internship with Tagga Media.

2007 - 2010

DIploma Art, Animation & Design

The Art Insitute of Vancouver

Awarded "Best in Show" for CG Animation at the 2010 Winter Showcase. Collaborated with Ai alumni on the Eco -Documentary "How to Boil a Frog" and, the film "The Story of Luke" (under the company Mayo Motion Inc.).

2002 - 2006

Bachelor of Science

University of Alberta

Graduated with a Major in Biological Sciences and Minor in Latin American Studies. Extracurricular activities included soccer and, volunteering with Stollery Children's Hospital, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay and Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
